No one immediately claimed responsibility for the blasts, which came a day after a suicide car bombing killed 43 people in the northern town of Issers.It was one of the deadliest attacks in recent years in Algeria, and was widely condemned by the international community including the United States.Algerian Islamists have been fighting an insurgency since 1992, when authorities canceled elections that an Islamist party was poised to win. Some militants allied themselves with al-Qaida in 2006 and began carrying out bombings.The founder of al-Qaida's North African branch, Hassan Hattab, surrendered to authorities last year in response to a government amnesty. Hours after Tuesday's bombing, Hattab called on the militants to lay down their arms.
